John the Baptist is a prophet and the role of prophet is not to predict the future but proclaim the truth to a disbelieving, distracted, and disheartened people.

• When have you been challenged and changed by hearing the truth?

• Where are you called to be a prophet? How might you be called to share the gift of the Holy Spirit?
